How to Find Keywords for Micro Niche Sites
If you know anything about micro niche sites you will know that they live and die by their keywords.
Think of the keyword as the heart that keeps the site ticking. A strong heart allows it to live a long time and make good money, a weak one means it will struggle and eventually pass away.
A bit morbid a metaphor I’ll grant you, but it illustrates the point – which is the keyword is, well, key to the whole micro niche site enterprise. Which means that
a) you want to be spending time making sure you get the right one and
b) you will need to know how to find the right one
Whilst we can’t help you with point a (after all we’re not going to do your work for you) we can help you with point b, and show you how to find the keywords that a developing micro niche site empire needs.
How to Find Keywords for Micro Niche Sites
One will assume you have a working computer, Internet connection and half a brain (I used to assume a whole brain, but was disappointed too often). Ideally you will have some imagination, but if not a link to Amazon.com will help.
The first step we need to take is some brain storming (or at least a brain showering). Write down a list of items you see around you. Where you think it suitable key in some description. For examples such things as
“Desk lamp”
“Leather sofa”
“Table Runner”
keep going, from the skirting board to the curtain rail.
What you have there is a list of ‘seed ideas’. Whilst there are plenty of good software options out there which can help form this point on (Market Samurai is especially good), let us stick with free options (we don’t want to be elitist now, do we).
Which means firing up the old Google Keyword Tool. Fall in love with this, it is now your best friend in making micro niche sites.
Plug into the Google Keyword Tool each of the ideas you wrote down. When you type in each one and hit search it will come up with other ideas for keywords, and their search volume.
It is these we want. So now it gets tricky. We want to find keywords that have
1) A search volume of 1400 EXACT searches a month (not broad searches)
2) A CPC of $1 or more
3) EXACT Domain available
4) Low SEO’d competition in the top 5 places
Do those 4 and you have your keyword, and you are on the way to developing you very first micro nice site!. We have very recently joined the tide of micro niche sites by adding 5x of our own to trial the long term profit potential of this rapidly expanding sector of Internet Marketing. The company we used to research the niches, discover the best keywords & potential earnings as well as building our beautiful micro niche sites is TotalTreasureChest.com who I cannot praise highly enough for their professional approach, high quality standards of design, construction & SEO optimization, basically they advised me what niches were likely to deliver the best long term results & upon my approval they did EVERYTHING for me handing over the “keys” to my blogs within 7 days of the project commencing……along with regular updates at all the main stages.
